“My heart is a firecracker, my legs like twin rockets. I’m late for school and running faster than I ever have in my entire life. Fears of getting slapped with a detention (and Mum going mental) spur me on. Breathlessly, I propel myself through the school gates, surprised that nobody is on gate duty. Weird. Guess I must be later than I thought…
Sneaking in through a fire exit, I nip along corridors as silent as a ghost, glancing through the zoetrope of open doors. Every single classroom stands as empty as tomb. Where is everyone? Just as I begin to panic, I hear an eerie sound.”
My heart rate quickened as I stop dead in the desolate hall. “hello? Anybody?’ No answer. “Hello?” Again, no answer. The mysterious eerie sound grew closer with every pounding beat of my heart. I took a step back closer to the exit as the eerie sound changed from a distance thud into rapidly approaching footsteps. Without thinking, I rapped my hands around the steal cold door handle only to find that it was LOCKED!
I desperately pulled and pulled the handle, but it was jammed shut! Adrenalin flooded my body as I realised, I couldn’t hear the footsteps anymore.
Feeling scared and distressed, I wondered down the hall in desperate need to find another exit. My mind raced with thoughts. Where is everyone? Why are the classrooms empty? What was that mysterious eerie sound? But I knew I needed to focus on getting out of here. The dim school lights just about illuminated my path along the dark corridor.
I ventured along further down the hall, until I came across another exit. Once again, I rapped my hands around the handle and to my surprise it opened…
I found myself back at the start, standing in the empty abandoned playground. I stood there in dead silence, not a sound could be heard for miles. “This isn’t real”
“Wake up” I uttered to myself “Wake up” Just as I was about to give up, a familiar sound broke the silence. It was the sound of a distant murmur of a voice “ATLAST” I thought to myself “They are in assembly, I’ve found them!
Just as I was about to run, I stopped once again, weird! Normally assembly is on Friday’s. But I quickly came to the conclusion that it was probably my mum forgetting to tell me. Typical
Within no time I reached the assembly block and was already starting to head inside. Every silent step I took I could hear the voice getting louder and LOUDER!
I tiptoed down the hall towards the back doors that lead into the assembly. As I got closer the murmur became a clear voice saying the words BELIEVE.
A ghostly shiver ran down my spine as I entered…
What I saw next was very peculiar. An indistinguishable looking man was looking down upon the assembly hall on a large plasma screen repeating the same words BELIEVE. Ok I thought to myself this is getting to weird!
I turned to see what the strange man was looking at and there they were. The students. They were all there!
Feeling relieved I made my way over to my group. But as I got closer something felt wrong really wrong. They looked different. There skin looked dusty and dishevelled, their eyes seemed aimless and transfixed to this mysterious man on the screen. They all looked malnourished and soulless. But what I saw next made me recoil in horror. Their mouths were sewn together!!!!!
Desperately I tried to run but it was to late. The assembly doors slammed open and Mr Rellik (the headmaster) charged in with what to my horror looked like a giant needle. I looked around the room trying to find an exit. But there were none. My heart rate quickened once again as I thought to myself it was over. But to my surprise I notice a small fire exit door behind the stage that lead straight into the playground.
Just as Mr Rellik was reaching out to grab me, I quickly turned and dashed towards the door desperately trying to not get caught. I slipped through behind the stage and as luck would have it the door was open. Using my advantage, I quickly dashed ahead towards the school gates, which I could see nearby. I was already gaining distance between me and the monster that lay behind me.
With fear now flooding my body I ran as fast as my legs could take me, running for my life. Suddenly I felt my right foot get caught in a pothole and before I could even blink, I crashed to the ground…………blackness
I open my eyes slowly coming to my senses. “Where am I.” I thought to myself.
As my eyes widened familiar objects start coming to focus as the realization dawns on me that I’m back in my room, safe and sound. Feeling happiness beyond belief I realise its all just a dream. Unaware of time, I slowly start to head over to my bathroom. I felt a sharp pain on my forehead just where I fell on it in the dream. Strange I thought to myself. I walked in the bathroom and turned to the mirror, and that’s when it struck me. I jumped back in horror, my eyes widened like a deer in headlights and my breathing increased dramatically. My… my mouth it was… Stitched up
The End
